Study Description:
This study is testing an investigational inhaled medication for adults with moderate-to-severe asthma. Participants will take a twice daily dose of either the study medication or placebo for 3 months. Additional procedures include electrocardiograms (EKGs), vital signs, laboratory tests and home spirometry testing. Total participation will last approximately 5 months and would include up to 9 doctor’s office visits throughout the study. Eligibility for the study will be determined by the study doctor following two in-person screening visits to the clinic. Trial-related procedures and study medication will be provided at no cost.

Qualifications:
- Must be diagnosed with asthma 1 year or longer
- Must use daily inhaler that contains a corticosteroid
- In the past year, have you had at least 1 asthma exacerbation (a worsening of symptoms) that required: Treatment with oral steroid (eg prednisone) for at least 3 days orTreatment with injectable steroid into the vein for at least 3 days or Treatment with a steroid injection into the muscle or Hospitalization
- Must use a daily inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) AND a separate LABA with or without other asthma treatments OR a daily combination inhaler (ICS/LABA) with or without other asthma treatments
- Cannot be a current or former smoker with a smoking history of 10-pack years
- Cannot have you taken any biologic medication in the past 6 months
- Cannot need to take steroid tablets (eg prednisone) every day to control your asthma symptoms
- Cannot also have: Cystic fibrosis, Pulmonary fibrosis, COPD, Alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency, Bronchiectasis, Sarcoidosis, Heart failure, Angina (Chest Pain)
- Cannot have a history of: Unstable angina, Class II to Class IV heart failure, Heart attack within 6 months, Stent placement/coronary artery bypass surgery within 6 months

Highest DQs:
- Need to have had an asthma exacerbation (a worsening of symptoms) that required: Treatment with systemic (oral, IV, injectable) corticosteroids for at least 3 days or Led to an emergency room/urgent care visit or hospitalization in the last year
- Cannot have smoked a pack of cigarettes per day or more for 10 or more years
- Cannot also have: Cystic fibrosis, Pulmonary fibrosis, COPD, Alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency, Bronchiectasis, Sarcoidosis, Heart failure, Angina (Chest Pain)
