Study Description:
The purpose of this clinical study is to test the safety and tolerability of an investigational oral medication that is being developed to slow the progression of Parkinson’s Disease. You may be asked to attend 3 screening visits to determine if you are eligible to enroll in the study. If enrolled, you will receive either the oral medication being tested in this study or a placebo to be taken twice a day for 28 days. Your total participation will last approximately 4 months, and you will be asked to attend 11 doctor’s visits. During these visits, you will complete various diagnostic and laboratory tests. The doctor’s office conducting the study will be able to provide you with more information about the study requirements. Participants who qualify for the study will receive trial-related procedures and study medication at no cost.
Qualifications:
- Must have a diagnosis of parkinson's disease and have a brain scan to confirm diagnosis
- Must have had parkinson's disease for less than 5 years
- Must be post-menopausal
- Cannot require assistance from a nurse or caregiver for activities such as dressing, bathing, or eating
- Cannot have undergone brain surgery related to your Parkinson’s Disease
- Cannot be on blood thinners
